Here are some videos on the correct (and incorrect) forms of soldering and practicing desoldering from various circuit boards and then soldering the components back onto the boards. There are also three excellent soldering video’s from the EEVblog (Electronics Engineering Video Blog) on YouTube that are included below for your viewing.

 The first video is on Soldering Equipment Selection and how important the right equipment and supplies can be for successful soldering. You don’t need to spend more than around $80 for an excellent soldering station like the Hakko FX-888 that will last you for years and potentially pay for itself the first time you fix something instead of paying someone else to do it. The second video discusses through-the-hole component soldering and the third video discusses surface mount component soldering. They are between 30-50 minutes each and a good set of instructions to start out with.
